1) WHAT IS THE FAITH IN OUR FUTURE CAMPAIGN?
The Faith In Our Future Campaign is a comprehensive,
archdiocesan-wide capital stewardship initiative aimed at
achieving the following objectives:
- Generate endowment, direct ministry and capital funds
to strengthen parishes and archdiocesan ministries in
Catholic education and faith formation.
- Further the education in and practice of stewardship.
- Continue to implement the strategic plans of parishes
and the archdiocesan Church.
2) WHAT IS THE CAMPAIGN GOAL AND WHAT DOES THE
CAMPAIGN FUND?
The goal of the Faith In Our Future Campaign is to raise
$105 million for the following priorities:
- Parish Ministry ($63,000,000): Enhancing and
expanding parish ministries through parish stewardship
campaigns for capital, direct ministry, and endowment
priorities.
- Archdiocesan Initiatives and campaign expenses
($42,000,000): The archdiocese will utilize its share to
strengthen Catholic education and faith formation
through direct subsidies, expanded services, and
endowments that benefit our parishes, schools, our
seminary, and educational initiatives of the archdiocese.
Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will support Catholic
education and faith formation initiatives of the global
Church, especially in mission areas. Campaign expenses
for parishes and the archdiocese will be paid from the
archdiocesan share.
3) WHAT PERCENT OF ALL THE FUNDS RAISED WILL BE
DIRECTED TO PARISH AND ARCHDIOCESAN MINISTRIES?
- 60 percent for parish needs
- 40 percent for archdiocesan initiatives and campaign
expenses incurred by the archdiocese and its parishes.
All contributions will be held in the Faith In Our Future
Trust for the use and purposes set forth in the Faith In
Our Future Campaign and for no other purposes. This
campaign funds Catholic education and faith formation
within the Church of southeastern Wisconsin.
If a donor directs that his or her contribution be restricted
to fund a specific ministry area(s), that intention will be
honored.
4) WHY ARE SHARED MINISTRIES IMPORTANT TO OUR
CHURCH?
As baptized members of the Catholic Faith, our calling
extends beyond the boundaries of our local parish. Shared
ministries, by their nature, are larger and more complex
than any one parish can accomplish on its own. Shared
ministries encompass those services that are most effectively
and efficiently provided when we share resources from all
parishes. Providing archdiocesan support services that
benefit 134 Catholic schools; formation of deacons, catechists
and parish leaders through the John Paul II Center; and,
supporting our seminarians through Saint Francis de Sales
Seminary are examples of shared ministries.
5) WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR THE
FAITH IN OUR FUTURE CAMPAIGN?
The Faith In Our Future Campaign begins in fall of 2007
and continues through June 2009. The campaign has two
related components: individual parish stewardship campaigns
and a leadership gift effort.
A pilot wave of 15 parishes began planning their campaigns
in the summer of 2007. All remaining parishes will
participate in 1 of 3 waves beginning in spring of 2008,
the fall of 2008, and the spring of 2009.
6) WHAT CAN A PARISH INCLUDE IN ITS CASE FOR
SUPPORT?
Each parish, through planning with its pastor and people,
will be asked to consider its unique needs. Your parish can
address its most essential capital, endowment and ministerial
initiatives, keeping in mind the pastoral priorities of
Catholic education and faith formation. Establishing or
enhancing existing endowment funds that support parish
and/or school ministries in perpetuity is encouraged.
7) HOW WILL PARISH GOALS BE DETERMINED?
The expectation for each parish is that it should raise at
least 100% of reportable annual offertory income over a
three-year pledge period. This serves as a measurable
benchmark for pledges and participation. Beyond the
benchmark, a parish may set a higher goal that reflects the
special vision of the parish and the local resources available
to meet the parish vision. A professional campaign consultant
will work with parish leadership to set an appropriate and
achievable goal.
8) WHAT ARE ENDOWMENTS AND HOW ARE THEY
BENEFICIAL FOR MINISTRY?
An endowment is a permanent, steady, and secure source
of income. It gives donors the opportunity to provide for
the future needs of their parishes and the archdiocesan
Church. It is a permanent fund, the earnings from which
can be used by the parish or archdiocesan Church for
designated ministry priorities. Endowments are an attractive
option to donors, particularly those who wish to make
arge current gifts or leave a gift by bequest or other forms;
their donation is maintained in perpetuity and not expended
mmediately for short-term operating costs.
9) WHO WILL BE ASKED TO PARTICIPATE?
Every household in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee will be
given the opportunity to consider an informed, thoughtful,
and prayerful commitment. Support from all members of
the archdiocese will be needed to make the campaign ministry
objectives a reality.
10) HOW CAN I MAKE A GIFT TO THE FAITH IN OUR
FUTURE CAMPAIGN?
WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF THE PLEDGE PERIOD?
We ask that you pray about making a three-year pledge to
the campaign. This may enable you to consider a larger
gift that can be funded over a period of time. You will have
the flexibility to fulfill commitments on a monthly, quarterly,
semi-annual, or annual basis.
All contributions will be held in the Faith In Our Future
Trust for the use and purposes set forth in the Faith In
Our Future Campaign and for no other purposes. This
campaign funds Catholic education and faith formation
within the Church of southeastern Wisconsin.
